A Colorful Desert

I haven’t painted for a while because “life gets in the way”; (my artist’s excuse and I’m sticking with it!) but in reality we get “painter’s block” just like a writer gets “writer’s block. But hopefully, that is behind me until the next time. I had painted another painting but had no success; I felt it was too dark, so on my second attempt I decided to try light, cheerful colors, with the result being a small painting I was happy with.  Titled “A Colorful Desert”, the painting is an impressionistic rendering of the desert, with a full moon in early evening bouncing its light off of a small pool of water standing in the desert sands.   The  12″ x 12″ painting is painted on what is known as an “encaustic panel” which is a wooden panel prepared for encaustic paintings.  While framing is an option, it is not needed because the panel permits “wrap-around” painting.
